*jumps up and down with excitement*
www.yale.edu/oci is up!!
A few friends and I (rising sophomores) are starting a new community service, Project SAT. We will go around to local high schools and tutor underprivileged New Haven students in the verbal, math, and writing sections of the new test. Now I am particularly appealing to all you overachievers because I KNOW that you guys know this test inside and out and have mastered it several times over.
If this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, or if you have any questions, please email me at email@example.com. We welcome all!
Thanks so much for your help, and looking forward to hearing from you guys.
P.S. Also check out the Facebook group "Project SAT."
For those of you who lived in Swing Space this past year, how big are the rooms compared to those on Old Campus? Where did you eat, since Swing Space has no dining hall?
Does anyone here recommend getting the property insurance that was offered through Yale? Do people's stuff actually get stolen???
i think someone told me that the agency that sells sheets to incoming freshmen is all just a scam? well, perhaps not a scam, but more a waste of money, yes?
because i got it today. and then i proceeded to put it in the recycling bin.
Just an update... I'm living in Boston. I'll be back in New Haven part of next week (Tues-Fri), so I'll try to hit up Queer Night or whatever it is, and if anyone wants to chill they can always call my phone. Otherwise, I'll be back in town later this year and of course next year. Woohoo!
In other news, my sister's school (also the school I graduated from) did this fundraiser where they gave up dessert in their dining hall for the rest of the year and ended up saving about 10K, I think - they're donating it to earthquake victims in Pakistan.
She would love to help orchestrate more of these fundraisers - giving up dessert for short periods of time in, say, Commons could raise tons of money... she figures she'll start with Yale and try to branch out to other schools.
Anyone have a cause the whole student body would rally around and want some help raising some money? Feel free to comment back, email me (firstname.lastname@example.org), or AIM her: rigor radiant. She's a sophmore in high school, her name's Natalie, give her some slack.
That's all! Hope everyone's surviving second semester. Y'all don't get too angsty, I know New England winters are harsh.
